ED glass cuts the color fringing that blurs fine feather patterns, and 12x magnification lets you confirm field marks from further away, without creeping closer and spooking the bird.
The BAK4 roof prisms and FMC coating keep the image bright even as the light fades toward evening. Eye relief is 17mm, long enough to glass comfortably with your regular glasses on, so you're not squinting through a narrow tunnel. Close focus is 3m, useful for backyard feeders as much as distant treetops.
Built to go with you: the housing is IPX7 rated and nitrogen-purged, sealed against rain and internal fogging when temperatures swing. A phone adapter clip comes in the box, so the bird you finally tracked down doesn't have to stay a memory.
